Quinz represented the investor syndicate led by V-Bio Ventures and FundPlus on the negotiation and structuring of AstriVax´s record-breaking €30 million seed round (the largest amount of seed capital in the history of spin-offs linked to Belgium-based university KU Leuven).
AstriVax will use the seed capital to bring their first thermostable yellow fever vaccine to the clinical development stage and to further develop other pipeline vaccine candidates. The company will also continue to build its highly innovative, first-in-class plug-and-play vaccine platform based on the ground-breaking work of co-founders Professor Johan Neyts and Kai Dallmeier, PhD, from the KU Leuven Rega Institute
Next to V-Bio Ventures and FundPlus, the investor syndicate includes Flanders Future TechFund, Thuja Capital, Ackermans & van Haaren, Mérieux Equity Partners and Korys (via OMX Europe Venture Fund), BNP Paribas Fortis Private Equity, and the KU Leuven Gemma Frisius Fund.
A joint effort by Quinz´s Corporate M&A and Life Sciences departments, Quinz´s multidisciplinary deal team consisted of Klaas Thibaut (Corporate M&A) responsible for the corporate structuring and negotiation of the deal, Pieter Wyckmans (Life Sciences) responsible for the licensing and regulatory aspects of the deal, Cody Demuytere (Corporate M&A) and Charlotte De Cort (Corporate M&A).
