Quinz is proud to announce its support to Ghent University’s international business negotiations course which will be held during the second semester of this academic year. The course will be taught by Kenneth Frankel, President of the Canadian counsel for the Americas and previously adjunct professor of law at American University (Washington DC), in cooperation with Hans De Wulf, professor corporate law at Ghent University. A special thank you also to Michel Tison, Dean of the law faculty at Ghent University, for making this collaboration possible.
During the course, selected students will be challenged to negotiate, in team, an international business deal touching upon the life sciences’ sector. The counterparty to this deal, usually students from a foreign university, will now – due to the COVID pandemic – be composed of a second group of Ghent University students.
The course is designed to challenge students in taking a holistic approach when reviewing and negotiating a business deal and triggers students to not only take a legal viewpoint, but a commercial and sometimes regulatory outlook as well. In sum, it equips the students with a good first-hand experience of what life as a corporate/contract lawyer, or perhaps even a life sciences lawyer, looks like.
Quinz is contributing to the course through its life sciences’ know-how vehicle “The Clinic” and looks forward to meeting and seeing the selected students in action during the negotiations. Through The Clinic, Quinz hopes to, amongst others, spark the students’ interest for the life sciences sector and further wishes to highlight Belgium’s already renowned position in the sector.
